Community Arts Consulting is committed to advancing the arts in communities in many dynamic ways; through individual and group leadership coaching, design and management of public and community arts projects, as well as fundraising and development support.

Joan Vorderbruggen is a nationally recognized place-based leader, sought-after speaker, and advisor with nearly two decades of experience. She has been at the forefront of driving award-winning arts and engagement initiatives that serve as national models for community-based program design. Joan successfully transformed the largest performing arts nonprofit in the State of Minnesota to cater to the densest emergency shelter-seeking community in the five-state area, utilizing the arts as a catalyst for positive change.

Her impressive portfolio includes the production of over twenty large-scale murals in the region, such as the Bob Dylan mural by Eduardo Kobra and the Prince mural by Hiero Veiga. Notably, her public art project in collaboration with the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center was honored with the title of Best Social Practice Public Art by Americans for the Arts in 2017. Joan has organized and executed hundreds of community events, showcasing her proficiency in participatory program design with youth, local artists, and adults experiencing homelessness.

Joan's talents are unique and well rounded. She is an award-winning storefront designer specializing in uplifting dense commercial corridors with creative marketing solutions. With nearly thirty years of direct patient care experience as an LPN, she combines her artistic and compassionate qualities. Moreover, Joan is an Associate Certified Coach recognized by the International Coaching Federation, providing invaluable support for leaders nationwide to achieve their goals.

A 2018-2019 Humphrey Policy Fellow, Joan was also chosen as one of 23 individuals for the 2017-2018 Creative Community Fellow program by National Arts Strategies.
